The brief was to find a way to celebrate Serena’s return to her “home” grand slam in New York. The campaign told Serena Williams’ story with just a couple of words that defined her journey to where she is today. By striking out one word in the final phrase, “greatest female athlete ever,” we challenged how people think about her role in sport history and whether the greatest athlete of all time has a gender requirement.
The results generated more than 70 million cross-platform impressions, while the out of home installations became part of the fabric of New York City all while sparking a conversation around labels and what it means to be one of the greatest of all time.

How does Nike celebrate the Chicago Cubs’ journey to their first World Series victory in 108 years? Nike created “Living” out of home (OOH) ads in Wrigleyville. After every Cubs victory throughout the World Series, athlete images and reactionary lines were sniped onto walls highlighting the previous game action, ending with one final celebratory line when the Cubs won the series 4–3.
The IAB estimates that our OOH efforts generated 6 MM local Chicago Wrigleyville OOH impressions, but we know it was much greater than that. Our messaging became the backdrop for on-air broadcast coverage and was prominent in social media feeds capturing the local celebration.
